Thilini ousts Achini in women's open semi final
Former Olympic game shuttler and No. 3 seeded Tilini Jayasinghe created an upset when she beat the No. 1 seeded Achini Ratnasiri in a three setter to enter the finals of the womens singles on the second day of the Central Province Open Badminton Championship organised by the Sri Lanka Badminton Association and Worked off at St. Anthony's College Courts, Kandy yesterday.
Thilini lost the first set 17/21 but bounced back to win the next two sets 21/11 and 21/17 in a courageous fight back. Thilini will now meet former national champions Chandrika de Silva in the finals of the womens singles.
Most of the seeded players won their matches in this ranking tournament. The finals will be played this afternoon. The Chief Minister of Central Province Sarath Ekanayake will be the chief guest.
